We visited places over the years that we found interesting in looking into. Both, for their historical significance and the personal inquisitiveness on our part. In the early 1980’s, we purchased a timeshare at Crown Point in Ruidoso, New Mexico for about $8,000 and we can say that this was one of the best investments that we ever made.

With the additional purchase of the RCI (Resorts Condominiums International) package, we traded our week of timeshare at our home timeshare for condominiums anywhere in the World. Additionally, we purchased cheap weeks at other timeshare spots at much reduced prices.

Over twenty years or so, we must have made about 30 to 35 weeks at other timeshares around the U.S., plus three weeks in Europe. At the end of our use of the Crown Point time share, we donated our membership to some charity so they could sell it and made a little profit for their organization.

Our timing was good in that we invested when time-sharing was popular and we left when they began to take a lot of heat about the high cost of maintenance that their clients were having to pay. We were also lucky that this when the Southwest Airlines was much more generous with earning points for free flights, which allowed us to travel more, or buy special flights that occasionally became available.

These two benefits was our big reason for being able to travel and see so much of the country on the salaries .of a school principal and a social worker. If I had known that I would one day write a blog on this, I would have taken better notes and saved more pictures.
